2013 Legacy, Outback Models Recalled Due To Steering Column Problem

Subaru and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported that 2013 Legacy and Outback vehicles are being recalled due to an issue that could pose an accident risk to drivers.

The vehicles manufactured between February 15, 2012 and June 15, 2012 were equipped with a steering column that could fail because the shafts could become disengaged unexpectedly. If that occurs and both shafts become disengaged from one another while the vehicle is being used, the driver could lose control of the steering of the vehicle, which could lead to an accident.

The federal agency has encouraged car owners with the recalled vehicles to contact the manufacturer as soon as possible to have this issue promptly addressed. The repairs and replacements should be performed by Subaru for free. The official recall announcement can be found here.

As an attorney, I’m glad to hear that this recall is being issued promptly in order to make sure that drivers are not injured in any way as a result of a potential equipment failure.
