Ford Fusion & Fusion Hybrid Get Top Safety Rating

According to a series of news agencies, the 2013 Ford Fusion and Fusion Hybrid have both received top safety ratings in recent tests performed by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The reports indicate that the NHTSA’s New Car Assessment Program has tested both vehicles among others. Crash tests including resistance to rollover, frontal and side-impact collisions were performed. Both Ford models performed well enough to get a Top Safety Pick, however, the popular Toyota Prius v and Camry got poor safety ratings in last month’s Insurance Institute for Highway Safety testing program.

Ford has reported that its high safety scores are due to the company’s Personal Safety System, which is a network of features that combined are able to tailor the deployment of all airbags during frontal collisions, which is Toyota’s weak spot when it comes to frontal-impact tests.
