The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has reported that all units of the 2004 through 2007 Mercury Monterey and Freestar vehicles are being recalled over a possible injury hazard.

The third row seat in these vehicles could present a possible injury risk to occupants, according to the firm. The federal agency has stated that all units of these vehicles have been discovered to be equipped with third row seat latch striker mounting brackets that could experience corrosion, which could increase the risk of a structural degradation.

If that occurs, the seat may become loose in the event of an accident, increasing the risk of injury. The NHTSA has reported that most of these vehicles have been registered in east coast states, however, California car owners should also be warned since there’s a possibility these vehicles may have been purchased or may be used by west-coast motorists.

Ford has reported it will be notifying all affected car owners and that these vehicles will have all affected parts replaced for free. The federal agency has stated that the recall campaign is scheduled to begin on Mach 27, 2013.

Consumers that are familiar with the issued linked to lemon cars should be aware of the risks associated with defects that are not promptly addressed. As an attorney, I urge you to have your recalled vehicle repaired as soon as possible.
