According to a series of news agencies, Kia and Hyundai have announced a partnership with Google in order to bring Internet search capabilities to vehicles in the future.

The partnership would bring Google’s well known searching capabilities to Kia and Hyundai vehicle users with the help of voice-activated functions.

This feature would allow drivers to send searches to their car from another device. Google would also provide a turn-by-turn directions feature that would not be part of the basic package. Drivers would be able to have access to the navigation system and Google’s continuously updated database, which could be much more useful than a fixed database, which is what most GPS navigation systems are equipped with.

According to the automakers, this partnership would offer the updated technology to consumers with the 2014 Kia Sorento and the launching of Hyundai vehicles with the updated Hyundai Blue Link system.

Hyundai hasn’t announced a date for the launching of the technology. According to the news, neigher brand reported on additional costs concerning the additional features created by Google.

Hopefully, automakers and Google will keep safety a priority while designing these technologies in order to prevent creating a distraction hazard to drivers in the future.
