Honda has reported that all units of certain year models of the Odyssey and Pilot passenger vehicles are being recalled over a possible airbag issue.

According to the official reports, the company has noted that one or more rivets used to attach the airbag module to the cover could be missing. If this is true and an accident happens, the airbag may not deploy as it’s intended to. The official report issued by the federal agency shows that the airbag module affected by this recall is the device that protects the driver in the event of a collision.

To prevent injuries and keep drivers safe, the company has stated that it will be launching the recall campaign in the near future. All 2009 through 2013 Pilot and 2011 through 2013 Odyssey vehicles will be fully inspected and repaired for free, Honda reported.

The federal agency has urged consumers to never ignore a recall announcement that is related to a vehicle they own. In certain cases, equipment defects can cause serious and even deadly accidents. Recalls are often issued after accidents or injuries are reported in association with the defective vehicle. Contact Honda for more details if you’re affected.
