Recall Issued For Chevy Express Vehicles That Run On Natural Gas

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, General Motors along Impco Automotive are recalling all units of the 2011 Chevrolet Express fitted with natural gas tanks.

The federal agency has stated that vehicles manufactured between November 23, 2010 and December, 23, 2010 that have been fitted with a system of four tanks designed to use a pressure relief vent pipe assembly, are affected by this recall. The assembly may have been built improperly, which could pose a serious fire or explosion risk to vehicle owners and passengers.

The automaker has stated that the defective or improperly fitted assembly can allow for a leak of gas to make its way into the passenger compartment. In the presence of an ignition source, the gas may cause the vehicle to explode.

The company will be inspecting and making all necessary repairs to affected vehicles for free. Affected vehicle owners are being notified of this recall. As an attorney, I’m glad to hear that this recall was issued before anybody was involved in an accident linked to the issue behind this recall. California drivers with the affected vehicles should contact GM at once.
