Voice-To-Text Technology Just As Dangerous As Using Handheld?

A recent research shows that drivers who use voice command to text message while behind the wheel are still distracted.

The news agencies covering this study have indicated that when behind the wheel, using voice-to-text is just as dangerous as texting with your fingers while holding the smartphone. Tests showed that when drivers were using voice command to text while operating a car, the driver’s response times became much slower. According to researchers, the response time of a driver using a handheld device is also delayed, but when the driver was using the voice-to-text, they took twice as long to react.

Both texting methods also resulted in a decrease of eye contact on the road.
