Residents Ask If It Isn’t Time To Increase The Monitoring Of Older Drivers

According to the news, a 100-year-old driver recently hit 11 people and injured four. Reports show that this accident is now calling attention to the current lack of monitoring of aging drivers’ skills.

In California, drivers over 70 are required to take vision and written tests every five years, but driving tests are only given when requested. While older drivers are generally more prudent, their reaction times, alertness, and vision may decline, which may cause accidents.

As baby boomers age, there will be more senior citizens on the road. According to experts, California should require elderly drivers to take an additional road test and revoke the licenses of those who cannot drive safely.
