According to some reports, as part of a study, 64 motorists were given “test car” versions of popular automobiles from big manufacturers.

These cars, equipped with transmitters and receivers, are experimenting with vehicle-to-vehicle communication devices, which is believed to increase safety and make motorists much more cautious. Some regard this as a slightly invasive program, however, safety advocates believe that it is helping to pave the way for smart car technologies. Test drivers are expected to pay for their own gas.
