General Motors Recalls Vehicles Over Roll Away Risk

General Motors has issued a recall for multiple models of 2013 vehicles over an issue that could pose an accident risk to drivers and occupants.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has indicated that GM has decided to recall all units of the 2013 Chevrolet Express, Avalanche Silverado HD, Silverado LD, Tahoe and Suburban; all units of the 2013 Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV and Escalade EXT and all units of the 2013 GMC Sierra HD, Sierra LD, Yukon, Yukon XL and Savana vehicles.

These cars were reportedly equipped with park lock cables or steering column lock actuator gear that may have been malformed or fractured prior to the assembly. If these components are fractured or malformed, these vehicles could experience an unwanted roll away, which could happen if the car shifts out of the Park position and the brake pedal is not being pressed.

If the vehicle rolls away unexpectedly, it could pose a serious injury or accident risk to occupants and pedestrians.

To prevent incidents, GM decided to issue this recall promptly. Affected car owners will be promptly notified. Up to this moment, no incidents have been reported. It’s important that all affected consumers are quick to respond to this recall announcement in order to stay safe and have their vehicles repaired as fast as possible.
