Volkswagen Quits The Production Of The Routan Minivan
Multiple news agencies have reported that Volkswagen may be dropping the production of the Routan Minivan towards the end of 2013.
The reports show the company, just like Ford with its Edsel and Mercury with its LN7, has decided to drop the model after reports indicated that the sales reflect the lack of consumer enthusiasm toward the model. Routans built for the 2013 model year will be sold as fleet vehicles. In spite of the fact the vehicle was created as a combined effort between Chrysler and VW, only VW assembled the vehicles.
According to the company, consumers prefer SUVs and crossovers, which has hurt the sales of the minivan.
