VW May Develop 10-Speed Dual-Clutch Automatic, Diesel Engine
Volkswagen has announced that it will be developing a new 10-speed dual-clutch automatic engine that runs on diesel.
The automaker has reported during the Vienna motor symposium that its engineers are working on producing a new high–performance diesel engine that would make it possible for future Volkswagen owners to own a car with an engine capable of getting more than 369 lb-ft in torque range. This new 10-speed dual-clutch engine would make Volkswagen the head of automakers’ gears-available class.
The new engine would be capable of producing 134 horsepower per liter of volume displacement.
Full details on this new engine and when the company hopes to make it available for new cars haven’t been disclosed.
