Australian authorities have been asking automakers to design a version of London and New York’s iconic cabs but with a twist: these vehicles must be developed specifically for local roads.

The Victorian Taxi Association has written to car manufacturers including Ford, Holden, Kia, Nissan and even Toyota to see if they could design a Melbourne super cab, where the driver and passengers are separated in different compartments by a solid screen. The Association would also like to have these vehicles being designed to be super safe.
