The city of Washinton DC has announced a Car Free Day event to promote awareness and safety.

The effort was brought forth due to the ever increasing presence of pedestrians and bicycle riders on the streets, and the accompnying increase in accidents. It is hoped that having a day when citizens are encouraged to leave their car at home will bring awareness to the growing problem associated with auto and bicycle accidents.
