That’s due to the increase in the sales of these vehicles that has grown about 12 percent this year. Reports show that the fact the sales are going up, automakers have also been focusing on making more reliable vehicles. According to a recent research performed by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, death rate related to accidents involving small vehicles has dropped considerably. It went down from 165 per million in 1996 to 106 per million in 2012.
