Equipment Defect Prompts 2013 R1200 GS Motorcycle Recall

The automaker BMW has issued a recall for several motorcycles over a possible crash risk. The report issued by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration shows that the 2013 R1200 GS motorcycles could pose an accident risk because of an issue with the motorcycle’s locking bolt, which could cause the front fork tube to become loose.

The company has stated that the locking bolt that keeps the front fork tube attached may have been manufactured with a lack of torque, which could lead to an accident since it could cause the rider to lose control of the motorcycle.

To prevent accidents, the company has urged all affected bike owners to have their vehicles promptly repaired. Any inspections or repairs should be performed for free. The official recall announcement can be found here.
