According to several news agencies, on September 29, 2012, a safety event for children was held.

The safety program started at 9:00 a.m. and it ended at about 11:00 a.m. During the event that was held at Indian Springs Shopping Center in Kansas City, kids and parents learned more about bicycle and car safety.

The event, which was called the KCK Kids Traveling Safety event, included free car seats and bicycle helmets giveaway. Safety advocates also offered to perform bicycle repairs.

Event goers were able to also enjoy some free hot cider.
