Ford Announces Recall Of 485,000 Escape SUV’s

Multiple news agencies have revealed that Ford has announced this week that it’s recalling about 485,000 Escape SUV’s from the model years 2001 through 2004 and that were equipped with 3-liter V-6 engines with cruise control.

Ford has urged consumers to be aware the company needs to repair an issue with the sticking gas pedals in these vehicles. This recall comes in light of 68 complaints associated with an issue with the gas pedals that caused 13 accidents. Injuries and even a fatality have been reported as a result of these accidents.

Ford dealers will need to replace the fasteners on the engine cover, which will then allow for more room for the cruise control cable. While waiting for parts, Escape owners are advised to take their vehicle to a local Ford dealer, where the cruise control will be disconnected, until the vehicle can be repaired fully.

This is the third recall for Ford in two weeks for the Escape models. News reported that previous problems related to the 1.6 liter engine in the 2013 models have led to recalls.

As a result of these recalls, experts are questioning the overall quality of the Ford Escape.
