Multiple news agencies have indicated that an automotive safety event was held in Springfield to teach parents how to keep their children safe in and around vehicles.

The event was held at Autoland and several parents were able to participate. Safety advocates and technicians talked to car owners about avoiding leaving children alone in a parked car, vehicle blind spots and how certain places can be dangerous if a child is left alone and unattended near a vehicle.

Safety technicians also talked about car safety seats, seat belts, trunk entrapment risks and distracted driving.
