The company responsible for the development of Sirius XM is now eyeing the in-car infotainment field.

According to several news agencies, the company’s CEO has voiced his interest in maybe coming up with a new service for car owners that would resemble of technologies like OnStar already offer to GM car owners.

The company’s satellite infrastructure would be responsible for also offering stolen vehicle tracking services for the car owners, weather information, roadside assistance and even real-time gas prices. This technology would expand the company’s portfolio of products and offer more competition to automakers and other companies that are already developing infotainment technologies that offer similar services.
