NHTSA Recalls Mitsubishi’s 2012 i-MiEV

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has issued a recall report concerning all units of the 2012 i-MiEV model over a potential crash risk.

The federal agency has stated that Mitsubishi Motors North America decided to recall all i-MiEV electric vehicles because the brake system vacuum pump could fail while in use, which could result in a crash because the brake system vacuum pump may fail unexpectedly. If this occurs, the driver may experience difficulties to stop the vehicle because of the lengthened stopping distances. To prevent an accident that could happen due to the defective brake system, the company is now contacting all affected consumers.

If you believe you may have been affected by this recall, contact the manufacturer at once and schedule a visit to a local dealer to have the issue repaired for free.

It’s important that consumers respond quickly to the recall announcements that affect them in order to prevent accidents and keep drivers and passengers safe. Too often, motorists are involved in accidents due to defective parts before recalls are even announced.
