Nissan has unveiled how its new Autonomous Emergency Steering System will work, reports have indicated.

Aside of the well known automated braking system, certain models of new Nissan vehicles will be equipped with technology that will sense and detect obstacles with the help of cameras, radar sensors and lasers and will safely steer the vehicle out of harm’s way if the driver fails to react in time.

According to the firm, this could be a groundbreaking technology that will help to increase road safety and keep drivers from being seriously injured if they, for some reason, fail to notice the obstacle ahead.

At this moment, the system is being tested and more details on how it could make roads safer should be soon revealed.
