In Oklahoma, safety advocates and other agencies are coming together to promote child and car safety.

According to multiple news sources, auto accidents are still the leading cause of death among children under 14. Safe Kids, an organization that works to promote car and child safety works across the country by organizing events that hope to educate parents on how to safely install and use car safety seats in order to prevent injuries.

In certain areas, only 80% of children are safely placed in car safety seats that are designed for their height, weight and age. When they are placed in appropriate seats, they are not restrained properly.

An educational event will be held in Oklahoma on May 29 will promote safety by having safety technicians teach parents how to safely secure and restrain their children in their car safety seats correctly.
