Cadillac has reported that the paddle shifters in its ELR could provide on demand regenerative braking capabilities.

The Cadillac Voltec-powered ELR vehicles will be equipped with a pair of steering-wheel-mounted paddles that would allow the driver to pull on either of the paddles in order to create an increase in the regenerative braking system, in order to make the ELR to slow down at a greater rate. This technology, experts say, may not have a great impact on how the driver will operate the vehicle but it could give him or her more say in the process of the electric vehicle driving.
