Popular Beetle Model Recalled Over Injury Risk

Several news agencies have indicated in recent publications that Volkswagen has decided to issue a recall announcement concerning all units of the 2012 and 2013 models of the popular Beetle vehicles due to a potential injury risk.

If the leather car seats the newer models of Beetles are equipped with get wet, the occupant control module could eventually fail to notice the weight of a car safety restraint installed in the passenger seat. If a child is placed in the car safety seat and the leather seats are wet, the airbag may deploy in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of injury in the event of an accident.

The automaker will be replacing all defective control modules for free.
