Potential Fire Risk Linked To Transit Bus Recall

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has reported that all units of the 2006 though 2012 Senator, Senator HD, Candidate, C2, S2, PS2, President, Startrans Trolley, and Sentinel models of transit buses are being recalled.

The federal agency has stated that all models mentioned previously were equipped with certain armored pendant cables that are located at the base of the wheel chair lifts that may not be sufficiently protected. These cables may have been installed without a protective cover, which could eventually cause the cable to exposed to the power lug, increasing the risk of a short circuit.

Since a short circuit could lead to a fire, the company has stated that all units of these vehicles should be repaired. The company is to provide owners with a cover kit and instructions on how to install it for free.
