Potential Injury Risk Leads to Recall of Blue Bird School Buses

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has reported that Blue Bird has decided to issue a recall for multiple buses after it was noted that these vehicles were equipped with certain flip seats that could pose an injury hazard to passengers.

The flip seats of several different brands come with a gap in the lower frame area where the child could insert his or her foot or toes. Once someone pushes the flip seat downward, the device could pose a serious risk because it could pinch the toe or foot.

To prevent an injury, the company will have the flip seats replaced for free. The recall campaign will start on June 13. Affected models were manufactured between August 25, 2009 and March 19, 2013.
