Reports have indicated that all units of the 2011, 2012 and 2013 of Ford Fiesta are being recalled over an issue with the vehicle’s passenger side curtain airbags.
The reports show that this recall was deemed necessary after the company realized that the side curtain airbags might not deploy in the event of an accident because sensors are not triggered if the seat is not occupied. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, if the airbag does not deploy, passengers in the second-row side seat will not be fully protected.
To prevent injuries in the event of an accident, Ford will be reprogramming the system for free.
