Toyota Prius Among Models Recalled Over Crash Risk, NHTSA Reports

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has reported that multiple Toyota models are being recalled over a possible issue with the labels these vehicles were manufactured with. According to the federal agency, the labels may contain incorrect details concerning loading capacity and tire information, which could pose an issue since the driver may overload the vehicle unintentionally.

The inaccuracy of the details present on these labels could increase the risk of an accident and pose an injury risk to drivers and their passengers. Vehicles listed under this recall include several year makes of the Prius, Rav4, Tundra, Sequoia, Corolla, Camry and Camry Hybrid, Highlander and Highlander Hybrid, Tacoma, 4Runner, Sienna, Scion FR-S and XD.  Consumers with the recalled vehicles should contact the manufacturer to ask about the replacement label they are entitled to receive.

If you are unsure whether your vehicle was affected by this particular recall, follow this link to read the full announcement and learn more about how this recall could affect you directly. As an attorney, I’m glad to know that no incidents have been reported in association with this recall, and urge all California consumers with any of the affected models of vehicles to contact Toyota promptly.
