Volvo Demonstrates How Pedestrian Airbags Work

Multiple reports indicate that Volvo has recently reported its engineers have been working on designing airbags for pedestrians, which could help keep them safe in the event of a collision.

This new technology includes seven sensors that are added to the front of the vehicle in order to transmit signals concerning the potential imminent collision. In case the vehicle collides and the sensors notice a pedestrian, signals are sent to a control unit, deploying the airbags.

The new Volvo V40 comes with this technology and several articles and videos demonstrating how the technology would work have been published online.
