Certain Ford Vehicles Under Investigation Over Defective Accelerators
Multiple news agencies indicated recently that Ford Taurus vehicles and Mercury Sables are being investigated for potential throttle issues that could pose a crash and injury risk to drivers.
According to a recent memo issued by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 310,000 vehicles could have been manufactured with throttles that could become stuck open while the vehicles are being used. Models associated with 50 complaints received by the company include the 2000 through 2003 models of Sables and Taurus. According to the investigators, if the throttles are stuck open, the driver could be incapable of stopping the vehicle and a crash could occur.
None of the incidents reported resulted in injuries.
