General Motors has just issued a recall for all units of the 2008 through 2012 Chevrolet Impala police vehicles.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, this recall does not include non-police Chevrolet Impalas. Official reports show that the front lower control arms in these vehicles may break unexpectedly resulting in the loss of control of the vehicle.

The recall is expected to begin on August 21, 2012. GM will notify owners and dealers will replace both front lower control arms free of charge.
